The humid and mild climate on the north of the mountains determines the flora there. Lower forests of broad-leaved trees including beech, hornbeam, oak, walnut, and chestnut trees are followed higher up by coniferous trees including spruce, and firs, etc They are the only subtropical rain forest and the boreal forest in Turkey.
